Domains and DNS
Register domains, manage DNS records, enable DNSSEC and use the DNS API.
Registering a domain
Domain registration opens with early access. Once your account is active, search for a name in the console, add it to the cart and complete checkout. Registration is immediate for most extensions.
WHOIS privacy is included and enabled by default. The registrant contact is you, not ByteRoast.
DNS records
Open Domains → your domain → DNS to manage records. Changes publish to the anycast network in seconds.
| Type | Use | Example |
|---|---|---|
| A | IPv4 address | @ 3600 IN A 203.0.113.10 |
| AAAA | IPv6 address | @ 3600 IN AAAA 2001:db8::10 |
| CNAME | Alias to another name | www 3600 IN CNAME example.com. |
| MX | Mail routing | @ 3600 IN MX 10 mail.example.com. |
| TXT | Verification, SPF, DKIM | @ 3600 IN TXT "v=spf1 -all" |
| CAA | Restrict certificate issuers | @ 3600 IN CAA 0 issue "letsencrypt.org" |
The default TTL is 3600 seconds. Lower it to 30–300 seconds before a migration, then raise it again.
DNSSEC
Enable DNSSEC with one click. We generate the keys and publish the DS record to the registry automatically for domains registered with us. For external domains, copy the DS record into your registrar.
Transfers
Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request the authorization code, and start the transfer in our console. We copy existing DNS records first. Transfers include a one-year renewal and typically complete in 5–7 days.
DNS API
curl -X POST https://api.byteroast.com/v1/domains/example.com/records \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $BR_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"type":"A","name":"www","value":"203.0.113.10","ttl":300}'
Record changes are validated before they are accepted. Conflicting CNAMEs and invalid MX targets return a 422 with a specific error message.
