ByteRoast Log in Deploy
Backups

Snapshots you can actually restore.

Daily automatic snapshots, off-host storage and one-click restore. Tested restores, not just a green checkmark.

Schedule
Daily

Automatic, with on-demand snapshots whenever you want.

Storage
Off-host

Snapshots live on separate storage, replicated in-region.

Restore
1-click

Restore to the original server or spin up a new one.

Encryption
AES-256

Encrypted at rest, with keys managed separately.

What is covered

The whole machine, not just /home.

Whole-disk snapshots

The boot volume, application data and configuration, captured consistently.

Flexible retention

Keep 7, 30 or 90 days. Choose per server, not per account.

Restore anywhere

Restore in place or create a new server from any snapshot, in any region we support.

CLI and API

Trigger a snapshot before a deploy and keep the pipeline honest.

Restore drills

Monthly automated restore tests on a sample of snapshots. We publish the results.

Immutable option

Lock a snapshot for compliance so it cannot be deleted before its retention date.

Pricing

Storage-priced, not server-priced.

Restore

Three steps, no support ticket.

01

Pick a snapshot

Open the server, choose Snapshots, and pick a point in time by date and size.

02

Choose a target

Restore over the existing server or create a new one to inspect first.

03

Confirm

We take a safety snapshot of the current state, then restore. You get an email when it finishes.

br snapshots restore api-prod --snapshot snap_8fk2 --target new
Questions

About backups, honestly.

Are backups included with Cloud VPS?
Yes. Growth and Scale include a daily snapshot slot; Starter can add one for $1/month. Storage beyond the included allowance is $0.02/GB-month.
Can I download a snapshot?
Snapshots are block-level images, so they are restored inside ByteRoast rather than downloaded. For file-level exports, use the backup agent inside your server or ask support.
Do you test restores?
Yes. We restore a sample of production snapshots every month and track the results. A backup that has never been restored is a guess.
What happens if I delete a server?
Its snapshots are kept for the retention period, then deleted. You can restore a deleted server from a snapshot during that window.
